Love to celebrate Cinco de Mayo but can’t afford to go to Mexico? Take a trip to the largest Fiesta in the United States-- Fiesta Old Town, San Diego!

From May 5-7, the historic Old Town will transform itself into a bustling community complete with traditional style paintings, live music, and of course, delicious treats-- all in support of the Historic Old Town Community Foundation.

Fiesta Old Town attracts over 100,000 visitors annually over the course of the Cinco de Mayo weekend, and they expect nothing less for their 34th anniversary.

The Fiesta incorporates various types of classic Mexican live entertainment. There will be musical notes from over 20 bands, across a number of genres-- latin rock, Nortena, Conjunto Jarocho, Banda Sinaloense, and naturally, Mirachi. Aside from music, Fiesta Old Town will include a number of alternate entertainment elements including Lucha Libre Wrestling! Visitors can also enjoy a Fiesta favourite as they walk through Lowrider Lane. The street will be lined with classic, old-fashioned Low Riders with intricate paint jobs and modifications for visitors to enjoy.

We couldn’t call it a festival without food and drinks though, right?! Visitors can grab a quick bite with the numerous food vendors offering traditional Mexican delicacies-- carnitas, tacos, burritos… need we say more?

Alternatively you can slow it down and enjoy one of the delectable dining establishments throughout Old Town, of course, you’ll have to wash down the delicious eats with some drinks! The Fiesta will be filled to the brim with Tequila and Margarita specials bound to make you say, ¡Vamos a bailar!-- let’s dance!

Not much of a partier? No problem. The Fiesta is stuffed like a Piñata with interesting historic and cultural features worth exploring, as well as number of fun activities for the kids!

There will be street merchants, face painting, arts and crafts, and interactive educational elements to keep your little ones entertained. If the bustling streets become too much for you and your group, stop by the the Ballet Folklorico competition in the historic state park nearby! It will feature historic dances from people of all ages throughout the entire Fiesta.

No matter what you do, this Fiesta is a party for the whole family that you don't want to miss.
