Montreal's Habitat 67 is Sci-Fi Heaven

Let's say you're in Montreal and you want to film a low-budget sci-fi film that looks like the 1960's perception of the future. Where do you go? Rest assured, there's Habitat 67. This geometrical feat of wonder was designed by Canadian architect Moshe Safdie as part of the 1967 World Expo. This extraordinary experimental housing complex is made up of modular concrete units. Safdie's design for Habitat 67 began as a thesis project for his architecture program at McGill University and is comprised if 354 identical prefabricated concrete forms arranged in various combinations, reaching up to 12 stories in height. Conveniently, Habitat 67 is located on the Marc-Drouin Quay next to the Saint Lawrence River - right across from the downtown Montreal skyline. Even the name, Habitat 67, conjures up images of a sci-fi movie. This is where I'm going to film a remake of the 1972 film, Conquest of the Planet of the Apes.
