World’s Top Chefs are Canada Bound
Each month, a celebrated chef or culinary professional from around the world will visit Calgary, Alberta to actively promote their culinary background and collaborate with one of Canada’s top chefs. If you are a culinary traveller, mark your calendar and pack your palate!
Led by Chef Darren MacLean, this local-to-global network shares talent, techniques, stewardship, and tourism. Together, global chefs are tackling sustainability issues to the benefit of those living, working and visiting our country.
The chefs and culinary elite bound for Calgary include Michelin-star chefs, chefs in the World's 50 Best as well as top sommeliers. The participating chefs will partake in a five-day program that will also see them tour Canada’s lakes, rivers, mountains, and unique landscape to develop an appreciation of the nation's natural beauty, food resources, our indigenous peoples as well as the local terroir.

Inspired by all the cultures of Canada's indigenous and multi ethnic mosaic, MacLean’s appreciation for diversity leads him to travel extensively, further developing his unique perspective on food and the culinary experience. MacLean spent extensive time traveling in Japan studying the cuisine of the country that inspires him. Believing in the power of food to bridge cultures, he welcomes global chefs to his country and kitchen and travels often -- from Tokyo to Mexico City -- to collaborate with others.
